Hey there internet users! Halle's the name and talking about myself is the game (at least for this post).
I am writing this to you as an assignment for my course at West Chester University, Strategic Social Media. I've made my way through Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Pinterest. Now it's time for me to enter the blogosphere!
So, what should you know about me. Well, my resume will tell you that I had three internships at the Allentown Art Museum, Fox & Co. Motion Design (unaffiliated with the Fox News netowrk, it's an independent startup of graphic designers in New Zealand), and Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. You would also see that my jobs include being the News Editor of West Chester University's student newspaper The Quad, phone-a-thon representative at the West Chester University Foundation, and Visitor Services Associate at the Da Vinci Science Center. Needless to say, I keep busy.
Then we have my school life. I held executive board positions in two clubs, English Club and Creative Writing Club, simultaneously for over a year.
Then there's my classroom life, which is interesting to say the least as a major with a double minor. I'm a Communication Studies major with minors in Deaf Studies and English Literature. I go from societal communication practices to ASL Linguistics and Latina Writing. It's safe to say I get a taste of what a lot of my campus has to offer academically.
As for where I'll be in the future, it's tough to say. As I've gotten further and further into my senior year the adults in my life have been asking where I want to be in five years. To be quite frank, I don't even know what I'm eating for lunch tomorrow, much less my career placement in half a decade!
What I do know is that no matter where I go, I want to help people. I want to make impact. In the past I've volunteered to help out Colleges Against Cancer and Broadway Cares: Equity Fights AIDS. That work makes me feel that I have purpose. That at least some small sliver of the world was made better because I made the choice to help. If everyone tackled a small sliver, we'd be a better society as a whole.
I'm eager to learn, up-beat, and will always strive to be someone worth hiring, befriending, and working alongside from.
So journey with me on this blogging adventure as I discover where I want to be, what I want to do, and who I am to become.
